RFID and Alzheimer's

Two-hundred volunteers are to be included in the two-year study at Alzheimer's Community Care where each of the volunteers will be implanted with a passive 134-kilohertz tag in their upper right arm.

The tags contain a 16-digit code able to provide access to a database containing their medical history and existing conditions, and it is hoped this information will enable health workers to administer the correct treatment should the patient be unable to speak for themselves or fall ill while unaccompanied.
