D.O.D Issues RFID Grant

Michael Roggemann, professor of electrical and computer engineering, recently received a four-year, $9.75 million grant from the United States Department of Defense to pursue technology in an emerging field known as radio frequency identification.

The research will be supervised by Roggemann and will be conducted by a team of researchers ranging from graduate-level engineers to faculty.

The article is an interesting read. I found it especially amusing in the last paragraph where there is a reference to how RFID will someday eliminate the cashier – the Wal-Mart cashier. Ha, always picking on the corporate giant. They must have read the previous posts about the green sweater and the jeans!!!
