RFID Suppliers in Philippines Must Register The Equipment with the Government
Let's all give a big round of applause to Jorge Sarmiento, deputy commissioner of the National Telecommunications Commission in the Philippines who on Wednesday issued rules and regulations on the use of radio frequency identification or RFID technology in the country. To really gauge the brilliance of these new rules, imagine for a moment you're a criminal element in the Philippines with an eye toward hacking RFID for profit. Now how scared are you of these new government mandates: ...the new guidelines require local RFID suppliers to register their equipment with the agency... users of RFID are exempted from registering their equipment but must ensure they will be using type-approved or registered technology.
