Near-field communications evolves

Near-field communications (NFC) is being proposed for systems providing security for children in the home. That's from this report out of ElectronicsWeekly. Interesting possibilities:

“As a parent, I could pre-programme an NFC tag on the wall at home,” Heikki Huomo, CTO of UK smart tag firm Innovision Research & Technology, told EW. “When my children come in, they could swipe the tag, and their phone would automatically text ‘Daddy I’m home’ to me.”
