An At-Home Barcode Application RFID Can't Touch

Talladega Superspeedway Vice President and General Manager Rick Humphrey announced today that the track will continue offering fans the convenience of printing their tickets at home in advance for the upcoming UAW-Ford 500 event weekend Oct. 6 - 8, 2006.

That's from this report which goes on to explain: Each ticket printed at home contains a unique, two-dimensional barcode that will be scanned at the venue... When these guests arrive on race day, they will be directed to a designated line where the ticket will be electronically scanned for validation. "We first offered this option to fans prior to the Aaron's Dream Weekend this spring, and because of its overwhelming popularity we are very pleased to offer it again to our guests purchasing their race tickets online," Humphrey said. "The feedback we've received is that it greatly increases the convenience of attending one of our events, and that is always of utmost importance to us."
