A Classic Story of Innovation and American Enterprise
Maybe things like this happen this way worldwide. It just seems as though you read about things like this more often happening in the United States where we value trying and failing almost as much as we prize trying and winning. This is about a couple of people in separate businesses both poking around the fringes of RFID technology opportunities -- not doing great but doing something -- who then decide to pair up. Here's their success story:
RadioData Corp., based in Scottsdale, and Personal Assets Documentation Inc., or PAD, of Long Valley, N.J., decided last summer to match up their technologies into a system they call PADlink. RadioData develops and builds the devices that sense temperature and other data and send it via a cellphone or satellite network to a central location. PAD, which already operated a Web site through which dispatch centers could monitor their trucks' locations via Global Positioning Systems, handles the communications and software.
See the full account if you want to know more about all the trials and tribulations these two firms faced before finding each other. Plus, the story also details how and why their combined solution is a winner for its ability to handle, sift and monitor data. The American way? Well, maybe we're not the only ones on that highway but we've certainly got our fair share of the road.
