What Happens At The Outer Edges of the Net with RFID

This may be a blog site you'll want to visit from time to time. I say that because here, at long last, is a reasoned dissertation on how we're all evolving to the edge of the Internet of Things. Go to this link and click on 'About,' and you'll note that the author, Robin Wilton, is a corporate architect in Sun's CTO team. Some excerpts:

But thinking of 'things of value connected to the network' and RFID, it did remind me that in defining our identity strategies for the future, we need to remember that the 'edge' of the network is expanding exponentially... Next there's the wave of edge-connected things - which is where RFID comes in. RFID introduces the notion that things have identities. Now, the same considerations apply as for human identites: you need to consider authentication, authorisation, secure and reliable attribute exchange... and you need to consider privacy...I think the identity requirements of 'the network of things' will provide a heck of a work-out for the principles which, up to now, have been applied only on a significantly smaller scale, and I think that's a very healthy test to have to pass.
