Here's an RFID Application That's Dead On

A pioneering green' woodland burial site is using microchip technology to identify the dead... Buried amongst the grass covering each plot is a radio frequency identification (RFID) microchip held securely in a plastic container... The microchip allows people and pets to be buried in a natural manner without the need for a headstone, says manager Wendy Pratt. To locate each plot, she simply has to pass a scanner over the area and a reassuring beep will confirm the information that is held in a formal burial ledger and tell her exactly where each body lies.

The entire entertaining overview is here at this link.

"The microchips provide us and the family with peace of mind and ensure that we bury in the right place, although immediate family always know where the body is."
