Mystery Solved: He Took a Hammer to His RFID

All I can say is just wait until people who hate RFID start disabling chips they discover embedded in the underwear they have on. This hammering thing could prove painful, don't you agree?

Turns out, the gentlemen we referenced recently here on these pages who trashed his new credit card in ways unknown because it had a chip in it, did the direty deed with a hammer. You'll recall we didn't know that because the Journal piece in which this was reported was for subscribers only. Well, this online site called Baseline spilled the beans:

A 37-year-old software engineer actually took a hammer to his MasterCard PayPass ATM card to destroy the RFID circuitry inside, according to an April 10 report in The Wall Street Journal. He feared that someone could use the radio transmission from his card to get gasoline—at his expense.

The guy is a software engineer? Isn't that like a person of the cloth whacking a Bible with an axe... a plumber flushing a whole roll of tp... a chef hucking a looey into the stew? My goodness!
