UK's Marks & Spencer To Expand Retail RFID Pilot: See Video!

Going to this story will give you a link to a web site where they say you can see a video of the Marks and Spencer RFID pilot. It has just been announced that the pilot is expanding.

In the UK, Paxar Corporation is to continue its involvement in the Marks & Spencer RFID trial programme, with the retailer having confirmed that it is expanding the item-level tagging pilot scheme to a total of 53 of its stores during spring 2006.

From my days long ago in the mother country I seem to remember Marks & Spencer being a store where a person could buy all things ranging from men's underwear to luttuce... it was as if JC Penny's collided with Stop & Shop. I also recall it was customary for shoppers to bag their own purchases which, at the time, seemed like the height of customer un-service. But improved customer service is what they say they're after with RFID.
