Good Advice for CIOs Contemplating RFID Pilots

This article comes from Computer Business Review Online (CBR).
For CIOs looking at the possibility of implementing RFID, there are many pitfalls to be wary of. Peter Regen, VP of global visible commerce at Unisys, told CBR that companies need to contemplate getting unbiased help before considering any implementation. "If you hire outside people with expertise, it enables you to get good read rates from the start." This is often the largest problem RFID projects encounter: ensuring that conditions for optimal reading are made. "It takes time to learn where to best place tags, how to tune the reader. It's a matter of trial and error, but there is a science to apply and there are tools to help you evaluate the systems. Equipment is not that expensive to start testing. You can buy a system that includes readers and tags for approximately $5,000, which is useful to play around with."
Sounds like good advice, don't you agree?
