A Rare, Cordial Letter Full of Grace From Leo Warmerdam

Who is Leo Warmerdam? He's a Senior Director at Philips Research. After his company's announcement of an RFID first -- namely a fully functioning 13.56-MHz RFID tag in plastic -- the claim was immediately disputed by a company called PolyIC, which makes a similar claim for itself.

Probably to address that debate, Leo Warmerdam of Philips Research took it upon himself to simply pen an old-fashioned letter of old world charm to the editor of IEEE Times. That's the first impressive act if you ask me because in all too many cases, corporations call in the huge cast of high gloss strategic consultants, wordsmiths, lawyers and the like who generally knead the dough so hard and long it won't ever rise in the oven. Leo Warmedam just wrote a letter, used plain English; made his point. I like that. And, his letter is a model of exactly how and what to say, all in the right tone.
