Is This True: End-users to use HF RFID at an Item-Level?

Here's a contributed opinion piece in Industry Week my office mate Amy found yesterday and forwarded along. Much of it is all about what I think most people know already of the RFID initiative by pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and the French technology firm TAGSYS. Except here's one line by the author, Paul Faber, who is a principal with Raleigh, N.C.-based Tompkins Associates, a supply-chain-solutions consulting firm, that surprised me at least. Am I the last person to know this? Here's the line--
A unique feature of the system is the proposal to allow end-users to use HF RFID at an item-level to authenticate all Viagra sold in the United States.
Really? How's that work?
