'The Irrational Exuberance of Early Market Hype'

That's one analyst's explanation why most people expect that no more than about ten medications will be tagged on a large scale during 2006 when just a year ago...evidence suggested a nearly 3.5-fold increase in life-sciences RFID transponder shipments between 2005 and 2006.
Well, maybe irrational emotional feelings swept over us all like a big hug from the Uber Exuber residing deep within all our hearts... er... or not. As this overview story from Pharmaceutical Online notes, The United States Prescription Drug Marketing Act (PDMA) of 1988 has had a little something to do with the slowdown. The little part is the part about the ability to trace a shipment's "chain of custody" at all stages from manufacturing to delivery... That's the part, this says, that's never been enacted, but let's see... 1988 to 2005.....um, that's only 18 years?
