Not to take any bread out of our own basket, but you have to give credit where credit is due and here's a site that may deserve the honor. In an apparently inaugural story, this one about Gen 2 -- how it communicates better, reads quicker and 'steps up' -- contributing editor Marisa Torrieri writes:

A piece of the current story that interetsted me was an except Torrieri includes from an Intermec white paper about RFID read and write speeds and feeds:

“Gen 2 technical specs should enable readers to perform more than 1,500 tag readings per minute in North America and 600 reads per minute in Europe, which has more power and bandwidth restrictions. These speeds support the ability to identify objects on conveyor belts moving 650 feet per minute, and those being carried by forklifts that pass through reader portals at eight miles per hour..."
