RFID Rx for 13 Bangkok Hospitals

This news just reported yesterday in The Nation:
Bangkok Hospital, one of the biggest hospitals in Thailand... (is)
(c)ompleting its pilot project on the technology, (and) plans to fully implement RFID this year before expanding it to 13 hospitals in its group in Bangkok and provinces countrywide within three years.

The primary application: It is expected that an RFID-based wristband will be issued to patients. The band will carry basic information about the patient, such as name, sex, age, and probably information about drugs to be used and the correct dosages to be administered.

See the full article for security safeguards and other implementation facts. But in the meantime, isn't it curious this can be done so fast and with such obvious logic in Bangkok and not in Boston, Massachusetts, the medical mecca of the modern world?
